Out and about...

I am always on the look out for inspiration for my lino prints. Yesterday, on a run, I passed these beach huts. The colours were so vibrant and the image so striking that I had to stop and take some photos. These beach huts are at Corbyn Head, Torquay.

Sea Birds

We recently walked the coastal path from Harlyn Bay to Trevone Bay in North Cornwall. Here are some photos that I took of the breathtaking scenery...

The view captured in this last photo has inspired me to make a new lino print. We sat captivated for at least 20 minutes watching a wide variety of sea birds swooping, gliding and nesting precariously on the ledges of this cliff. The noise of their squarks and screams was deafening.

Voila! My new lino print below is called 'Sea birds'.

My first exhibition : )

I currently have two of my prints in an exhibition of British Naive artists. The exhibition is at Gloss Art Gallery in Exeter http://www.glossgallery.co.uk/. The exhibition runs for eight weeks till 4th May.

You can just about see my two prints on the far right, the two small ones above the ceramic jugs.

Here are some close ups of the two lino prints in the exhibition...

Spring is here!! : )

If you are like me, you will have spent the last few weeks tentatively peeping out through the drizzle to the garden, desperately looking for any sign that better and brighter things are on the way.

This weekend the waiting was over! Glorious sunshine, a cool breeze, and bright, fresh, spring like weather : )

These are some of the photos I took this weekend on my travels. The photos are of Bantham beach and Dartington Gardens, both in South Devon and two of the most beautiful, peaceful places I know.

Bob and Tildi

As well as buying me some new lino cutting tools for Christmas (lucky me!), my Father in Law has made me a printing press by converting a 1940's child's mangle that I bought on Ebay for £30.
Here he is with the finished printing press (and Tildi the dog). I'm delighted with it so thank you Bob x

In return, as a thank you, I made a lino print of his beautiful Devon long house...

This print is availiable for £15 (including mount) at http://folksy.com/items/4088590-Devon-Cottages-Lino-Print

Wise Words!

Just a short post today.... I found these wise words by Ira Glass and thought I'd share them... it reminds me to keep going and just keep practising, trying to get better. Sometimes I get frustrated because things don't turn out like they look inside my head. I guess I just need to keep going : )
